An inter-State drug peddler was arrested during his delivery trip to Hyderabad on Tuesday by the South West Zone of Commissioner’s Hyderabad-Narcotics Enforcement Wing and Tappachabutra police.

The police said 3.5 kilograms of the contraband was seized from him.

The accused was identified as Pallapati Narendra, also known as Nani, a 21-year-old farmer from Bapatla district in Andhra Pradesh. However, the main supplier, Ram Singh from Visakhapatnam, eluded arrest, along with other individuals identified as Chotu Singh, Chinna Bhai and Chinna, who are also suspected of being involved in the illegal drug trade.

Investigations have revealed that Narendra met Ram Singh in Visakhapatnam a month ago and took to peddling drugs owing to financial difficulties. Seeking quick financial gains, he planned to sell ganja in Hyderabad. In December 2024, Narendra visited his sister’s residence in Hyderabad, where he came into contact with Chotu Singh, a resident of Gudimalkapur.

On February 10, Narendra procured five kilograms of ganja from Ram Singh for ₹1 lakh and came to Hyderabad. Based on a tip-off, he was arrested on Tuesday.

Efforts are underway to trace the remaining individuals in this illicit network.
