Samay Raina cleared his image in the video and said that his jokes are only meant to make people laugh.
Samay Raina is the host of roast show India’s Got Latent.
Samay Raina is facing legal trouble over Ranveer Allahbadia’s inappropriate joke during an episode of India’s Got Latent. Amid this controversy, Samay’s old video has resurfaced in which he explained to his audience that he only makes jokes for them to laugh and they don’t have any true meaning.
Samay said in the video, “Phone hata do, just want to talk dil se (from heart). Before I leave…jo bhi ek ghanta maine baatein kari, mein aisa aadmi nahi hu (Whatever I spoke for the last one hour, I am not this kind of a person).” The video is from Samay’s show in Ahmedabad in 2024.
Samay added, “It’s not a coverup, I am trying to tell you something. I could have left and been like….” He said, “But I would like to break the facade for you…we all write jokes to make you laugh par inn sabka koi matlab nahi hai (These jokes have no meaning). This is a game and these are cheat codes.” Referring to an earlier joke, he said, “Nana zinda hai mera (My grandfather is alive). We write s**t, we know it works for you, you have a good time, we make money. Fun.”
Meanwhile, Samay is currently touring in Canada and the USA with his show, Samay Raina Unfiltered. He has removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel. After the controversy broke out, he issued a statement: “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”
Samay’s fans are upset over the row and the removal of his show from the platform. Meanwhile, a Supreme Court bench has directed Ranveer Allahbadia to cooperate in the probe of the FIRs lodged in Maharashtra and Assam.
