Adequate allocations will be made to Medical and Health department in budget, says Bhatti

The State government has announced its resolve to provide adequate allocation to Medical and Health department in the budget for the year 2025-26.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Health Minister C. Damodar Rajanarsimha said the government has decided to provide sufficient funds to the Health department and Rajiv Aarogyasri  health insurance scheme as a majority of the poor and middle classes depend on the government-run health institutions and facilities. They expressed concern that drugs, food safety and medical education wings were neglected during the close-to-10-year tenure of the BRS government.

The government had therefore decided to strengthen and modernise the three wings in the coming days. The Ministers were participating in the pre-budget meeting of the Health department with senior officials on Tuesday.

They said it was decided to make sufficient allocations to Rajiv Aarogyasri health insurance scheme to bring better medicare to the poor and middle classes. At the same time, care would be taken to see that construction of medical college buildings and health institutions was completed before the end of the financial year. They directed the officials concerned to prepare plans to effectively utilise the centrally sponsored health schemes in the interests of the people. They said the government was actively examining proposals for construction of science and technology institutions like planetariums in the district headquarters in the coming days.
