
Principal Secretary (Energy) Sandeep Kumar Sultania has instructed the officials of TG-Transco to put concerted efforts to complete the construction of 220 kV sub-station under construction at Bowrampet in Rangareddy district well before the end of this month, keeping in view the urgency to cater to the increasing demand in the during the ensuing summer.
During an inspection of the ongoing works of the sub-station on Saturday (February 16), he stated that power utilities had been facing severe transmission congestion in and around Bowrampet during the last few years because of over-loading of power transformers and transmission lines.
To overcome the overloading issue Transco had taken up work on setting up the 220/132/33 kV sub-station at Bowrampet along with a connected 220 kV transmission line from Narsapur to Bowrampet with an estimated cost of ₹212.20 crore. The new 220 kV sub-station at Bowrampet would play a vital role in providing quality and reliable power and around Bowrampet, Patancheru, R.C Puram and Kukatpally areas.
After charging of the 220 kV Bowrampet sub-station the overloading issues in areas served by 220 kV Miyapur, 132 kV Bollaram, 132 kV R.C. Puram and 132 kV Patancheru sub-stations would be mitigated and help provide reliable and uninterrupted power supply even in case of incidence of peak load on the system.
Chairman and Managing Director of Transco D. Krishna Bhaskar, CMD of TGSPDCL Md. Musharraff Faruqui, Joint MD of Transco C. Srinivasa Rao, Director (Transmission) of Transco T. Jagath Reddy and others accompanied the Principal Secretary during the inspection.
