
N.S. Cooperative Hospital has established ‘Saphalyam’, the first geriatric centre within the cooperative sector, on its Mediland campus. Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal will inaugurate the centre and the 19th anniversary celebrations of the hospital on Monday at 4 p.m.
‘Saphalyam’, spanning 105,000 sq. ft, is the largest geriatric centre in Kerala, said the hospital officials. Its nine floors house 40 family apartments, 34 special apartments, dormitory facilities with 66 beds, a social kitchen, library, recreation centre, mini theatre, swimming pool, mini park, guest house, outhouse, ICU facilities with in-house medical assistance including doctors, a yoga and meditation centre, physiotherapy centre, multi-gymnasium, Miyawaki forest, fish farming centre, agricultural garden, trained caretaker services, and a counselling centre.
400 metres away
The Mediland campus is located 400 metres away from the N.S. Hospital campus, alongside the national highway. Currently operating on the 13-acre campus are an Ayurveda hospital building, a multi-gymnasium, a yoga centre, a beauty clinic, doctors’ apartments, and staff apartments.
The projects were completed with financial assistance from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). On Monday, 300 selected representatives from the district’s 175 cooperative societies will participate in the cooperative seminar starting at 10 a.m. Former Chief Secretary V.P. Joy will inaugurate the seminar and present the topic. Hospital association president P. Rajendran will preside over the function that will be followed by cultural programmes from 2 p.m.
At 4 p.m., Mr. Balagopal will inaugurate geriatric centre and anniversary celebrations and Minister for Cooperation V.N. Vasavan will preside over the function. At the event, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development J. Chinchurani will hand over the certificate of membership received by N.S. Cooperative Hospital in the International Cooperative Alliance.
