
Internationally acclaimed Sufi music troupe ‘Char Yaar’ will perform in Kozhikode on Monday.
The event named ‘Symphony of Harmony’ with the theme ‘Music of unity against communalism’, is being organised by Deshiya Manavika Vedi chaired by poet K. Satchidanandan. The event will be held at Freedom Square on Kozhikode Beach under the banner of ‘UNESCO City of Literature’.
Mayor Beena Philip, chairperson of the event, told reporters here on Friday that the members of Char Yaar were from different communities and were known for their harmony music concerts. Madan Gopal Singh is a music director and an orator, while Dileep Castelino is a guitarist and banjo player and an expert in western music, jazz, and pop music. Preetham Ghoshal is a Sarod player and a disciple of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, while Amjad Khan is an expert percussionist.
The troupe will also perform at Perinthalmanna in Malappuram on February 18, at Chavakkad in Thrissur on February 19, and in Palakkad on February 20.
Co-chairperson of the event and writer Khadeeja Mumtaz and other members of the organising committee were present.
