A new trailer for Until Dawn, a horror movie adapted from the 2015 video game, has been unveiled by the makers on February 13. Directed by David F. Sandberg, the film revolves around a group of friends trapped in a never-ending time loop inside a cabin in the woods. Although killed by different types of monsters each day, they find themselves waking up exactly at 6:45 pm on October 24 only to repeat the cycle with newer and more dangerous outcomes.

The trailer opens with gruesome visuals of a masked monster attacking a woman as she wails for help. Soon, the scene shifts, to a voiceover in the background revealing, “Up the road, there’s a place stuck in time.” The protagonists are seen navigating through a dark corridor when suddenly a monster breaks through the door. The secluded mountain house is equipped with a giant hourglass which keeps on counting the limited time the youngsters have to figure out what is going on. If they fail, they are killed again. To make it out of the house, the group has to survive till dawn.

The trailer promises an edge-of-the-seat ride, infused with jumpscares and scary visuals that are likely to keep viewers hooked. Since the movie is inspired by Sony PlayStation’s popular survival game, the director appears to have incorporated a spooky atmosphere and video game-themed sequences, experienced by the players.

The official synopsis of Until Dawn follows the story of Clover who embarks on a journey with her friends in a remote valley after her sister Melanie disappears mysteriously.

Until Dawn features a cast ensemble of Peter Stormare, Ella Rubin, Maia Mitchell, Odessa A’zion, Belmont Cameli, Michael Cimino and Ji-young Yoo. For those unaware, Peter Stormare also voiced Dr Hill in the original video game.

Previously, in an interaction with Collider, director David F Sandberg revealed watching horror films throughout his life. It inspired him to make a film like Until Dawn. The director said, “To me, it was a learning experience to find appreciation for subgenres that I haven’t really paid that much attention to before.”

Until Dawn is slated to hit the big screens on April 24.
