Former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, two of his followers remanded in judicial custody

The NTR Commissionerate Police have sent former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi and his followers, Shivarama Krishna Prasad and Lakshmipathy to judicial remand. The court gave 14 days remand and the accused were sent to Vijayawada district jail around 2.30 a.m. on Friday (February 13, 2025.)

Earlier, the Patamata police arrested Mr. Vamsi in Hyderabad and brought him to Vijayawada by road. He was apprehended for allegedly kidnapping and threatening the complainant M. Satyavardhan in Gannavaram, for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office attack case, that occurred in February 2023.

Police arrested Shivarama Krishna Prasad and Lakshmipathy in Vijayawada, on similar charges. Mr. Vamsi’s advocate Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy argued that Section 308 BNSS (extortion) will not apply for his client and the police falsely implicated the section.

After arguing for more than three hours, the judge gave judicial remand to Vamsi and two others in SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and other charges. Police conducted medical tests for all the three accused in Vijayawada Government General Hospital (GGH) before producing them in the court.
