Assam: Manas National Park Investigating Officers Get Advanced Training To Strengthen Wildlife Protection

In a bid to bolster wildlife protection measures, 27 investigating officers from six forest divisions of Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam underwent an intensive five-day refresher training in Bansbari range. The training, organized by the Field Directorate of Manas Tiger Reserve, Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), and International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), aimed to enhance the officers’ expertise in investigation, evidence collection, and framing wildlife offenses.

The program incorporated the latest amendments to the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and recently revised criminal laws and procedures. Additionally, sessions were held to update the team on relevant sections of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).

According to Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve Field Director C Ramesh, the training is part of a continuous effort to build the capacity and knowledge of investigating officers on procedural changes. This initiative is crucial in minimizing knowledge gaps among the officers and strengthening wildlife protection measures in the park.
