Housing project

The graduates will be awarded degrees on February 14 after the approval of the university senate chaired by Governor Rajendra Arlekar. SGOU had announced ‘Oppam,’ a housing project, in the 2024-25 Budget of the university. The objective of the project is to provide housing to all homeless students who are economically backward and good in studies. The funds for this scheme are collected from a social welfare fund, with each student contributing ₹300 at the time of admission.

In the initial phase the university is constructing houses for 15 students and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the project on February 12 by handing over the key at a function at Thiruvananthapuram.
