Anubhav Sinha, the director known for films like Article 15 and Mulk, recently made a surprising revelation about his relationship with Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn. Speaking in an interview with The Lallantop, Sinha shared that he hasn’t spoken to Devgn in 18 years despite making efforts to reconnect.
Sinha collaborated with Devgn for the 2007 action-thriller Cash. While rumours swirled about a fallout between the two over a song in the film, Sinha firmly denied any such disagreement. “There was no fight. He just doesn’t talk to me,” the filmmaker stated candidly.
Clarifying further, Sinha said, “I texted him a couple of times but never got a response. I told myself maybe he missed my messages. But yes, it’s been about 18 years since we last spoke.”
When asked if they ever had creative differences during Cash, Sinha reiterated that any issues were between the producer and financier, not with Devgn himself. “There was no disagreement over any song, at least not that I know of,” he said.
Despite the lack of communication, Sinha praised Devgn as one of his favourite actors and a dependable friend. “Ajay is yaaron ka yaar—he’ll be the first one to help a friend in need,” the director said.
Sinha acknowledged that he has made public comments on people’s political views in the past and speculated that perhaps he said something about Devgn too. “But I wasn’t targeting just him. I’ve said things about many people and still have good relationships with them,” he added.
Concluding the conversation, Sinha maintained that his admiration and respect for Devgn remain intact. “I truly admire him as an actor and as an individual,” he affirmed.
On the professional front, Sinha’s latest directorial venture is Netflix’s series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. Ajay Devgn, meanwhile, was last seen in Singham Again.
