A soldier was injured in a firing incident close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri on Monday (February 10, 2025), even as top Army officials toured the Pir Panjal valley to assess the ground situation.

Preliminary reports suggested a soldier suffered bullet injuries at a forward post in the Kalal area of Nowshera Sector, Rajouri, in the afternoon. The Army could not immediately confirm if the bullet came from across the LoC or from infiltrators.

Earlier in the day, the General Officer Commanding of Jammu-based White Knight Corps, Lt. Gen Navin Sachdeva reviewed the “hostile activities” along the LoC in the district.

“GOC White Knight Corps, along with GOC Ace of Spades and GOC Crossed Swords divisions visited forward areas of the Rajouri sector for an operational update on the prevailing security situation and the hostile activities,” the Army said, in a post on X.

The top Army official urged forces “to remain prepared for all contingencies”.

Meanwhile, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation in north Kashmir’s Karnah close to the LoC.

“During a search operation, the security forces recovered one AK 47 rifle, one AK magazine, one Saiga MK rifle, one Saiga MK magazine and 12 rounds. The arms and ammunition were kept in a bag behind a food store,” officials said.

Meanwhile, Bhim Sen Tuti, Inspector General of Police, Jammu, held a high-level review meeting on the operational preparedness in the Chenab valley, comprising districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.

An official said that the review was held at the Range Police Headquarters, Batote, in Ramban. It was attended by senior officers. “Strategic deployment of forces in the region was discussed,” officials said. The Chenab valley, otherwise a peaceful region, saw major encounters in 2024.

Mr. Tuti discussed strengthening the logistics support, patrolling, and preventive measures to thwart any potential incidents, the spokesman said.
