
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW) conducted an “AI Ideathon” in collaboration with Amazon Web Services here recently.
The two-day event titled “AWS Generative AI Ideathon” was held on February 7th and 8th. It was designed to offer students an immersive learning experience in artificial intelligence (AI) and its real-world applications.
A release said the first day was a comprehensive hands-on workshop led by Akanksha Rai Sharma, technical program manager, India and South Asia, AWS Academy. It was exclusively for all third-year students across various engineering branches, and this training session was aimed to equip participants with in-depth knowledge of AI-powered tools and cutting-edge technologies, empowering them with the skills needed to innovate and excel in the AI domain.
Following the workshop, students participated in a competitive quiz to assess their understanding of the concepts, the release said.
Bhavesh Patel, head of talent acquisition and education initiatives at Aspire For Her, shared valuable insights on industry connections for young minds. Based on their performance, the top 100 students were shortlisted for the Deep Dive Session, where they were presented with a problem statement, challenging them to develop innovative and practical AI-driven solutions.
On the second day, the shortlisted students had the opportunity to present their creative ideas before a panel of evaluators. The presentation phase featured three parallel panel sessions, where AWS officials, along with GSSSIETW faculty members, served as jury members, evaluating each solution based on feasibility, originality, and impact. The top three winners of the AWS Generative AI Ideathon received prizes.
