After skyrocketing to fame with the KGF franchise, Yash is now aiming for global recognition with his upcoming action thriller, Toxic. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film is being positioned as a Pan-World project, with scenes being shot and written in both English and Kannada. Additionally, it will be dubbed in multiple Indian and international languages to maximise its global reach.
Filming in two languages has significantly increased both production time and costs. According to reports, this decision has pushed the budget up by 40 per cent. The makers remain steadfast in their vision to create a film that showcases India on a global scale.
A source close to the production told Pinkvilla, “The idea is to make a Pan-World film, as the subject has a global appeal. This vision was in place from the start, with the cast and crew chosen to ensure international reach. The bilingual shoot has raised costs by 40 per cent, but the team is committed to delivering a film that represents India on a global platform. It’s one of Indian cinema’s most expensive projects, promising a big-screen experience worth every penny.”
There has been much speculation about Shah Rukh Khan making an appearance in Toxic, not just for hype, but in a significant role. According to an insider, “Shah Rukh Khan is at the peak of his career, and every director wants to collaborate with him right now. Earlier this year, Yash, Geetu Mohandas, and the makers of Toxic approached him for an extended cameo in the gangster-based action thriller.”
The source emphasised that this isn’t a superficial addition but a well-crafted, author-backed role with a dedicated character arc. “It’s not just a gimmick; the character has a proper track in the film. The makers are keen to bring SRK on board and are hopeful he will join the project.”
When Yash was asked about the rumour at an event, he quickly dismissed it and said it was not true.
Apart from the exciting cast, JJ Perry, who has worked on Iron Man, Fast and Furious and the John Wick series, is helping the Toxic team to create jaw-dropping action scenes. Fans are eagerly waiting for the movie, as it marks Yash’s first major project after the KGF series.
