Before stepping into the spotlight with Loveyapa, Khushi Kapoor had already worked behind the scenes in Bollywood.
Before her Loveyapa debut, Khushi Kapoor worked as an assistant director on Ranbir Kapoor’s Bombay Velvet.
It’s a monumental weekend for Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan as they step onto the silver screen with their much-anticipated debut film, Loveyapa. Since the release of its trailer, fans have been counting down the days to witness the duo in action, making this film one of the most talked-about releases of the season.
While audiences are well-acquainted with Khushi Kapoor from her role in The Archies, many may not know that her journey in cinema began much earlier—not in front of the camera, but behind it.
Yes, you read that right! Before making her acting debut, Khushi worked as a costume assistant director (AD) on the sets of Bombay Velvet, the 2015 film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Karan Johar. She wasn’t alone in this endeavor—she was joined by Aaliyah Kashyap, the daughter of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.
In an interview with India Today, Khushi revealed that she and Aaliyah wanted hands-on experience working on a film set. At the time, Anurag Kashyap was filming Bombay Velvet, and when they approached him about assisting on the project, he humorously directed them to the costume department. Their assignment? To “mess up” the already organized wardrobe, only to reorganize it and feel like they were making a difference.
Reflecting on the experience, Khushi laughed, saying, “We would just be around all the time. We felt like we wanted to belong there. So we would hover around, being annoying little children trying to be part of the process.”
Fast forward to today, Khushi Kapoor is now basking in the success of Loveyapa, which also marks the big-screen debut of Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan. With a promising start to her film career, she is set to make an even bigger splash with her next project, Nadaaniyan, where she stars alongside Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan. The film’s first look and song releases have already created a buzz, leaving fans eager to see this fresh on-screen pairing.
