Kapil Sharma has often been criticised for being arrogant, especially after his fallout with The Kapil Sharma Show co-star Sunil Grover. Actor Upasana Singh had once mentioned that Kapil became too busy to even greet her properly. Now, comedian Rajiv Thakur, a part of The Great Indian Kapil Show, has defended Kapil, stressing the immense pressure he works under. He also spoke about Kapil’s highly publicised fight with Sunil, which led to their separation on The Kapil Sharma Show, before they eventually reunited on The Great Indian Kapil Show.
Rajiv Thakur defended Kapil Sharma against arrogance claims, saying he works under a lot of pressure. “He is under a lot of pressure, and people don’t understand that. Who can memorise a 2 to 2.5-hour-long script? He has never fumbled, not even once. He adds a punch to every entry he makes. Besides performing, he has to welcome guests, make them feel comfortable, and sit with the channel’s creative team to work on the show,” he said, adding, “If the show has been running successfully for 10-12 years, it’s because of his effort and hard work. It’s not about arrogance. If I became as famous as him, I might lose my mind too.”
Rajiv Thakur said Kapil Sharma has remained humble despite his success. He said that while he sometimes found fan interactions tiring, Kapil always met his fans warmly. The comedian also opened up on Kapil’s feud with Sunil Grover. He said, “Who doesn’t fight? If their fight was so serious, how are they still mingling and shooting together today? Money can make you work together, but if you observe the atmosphere on set, you’ll see they genuinely enjoy each other’s company. Even after the shoot, they sit together. When Sunil wasn’t on the show, Kapil wasn’t facing losses, and vice versa. You can’t fake this camaraderie.”
