Assam’s boxing team delivered a remarkable performance at the 39th National Games on Friday, February 7, with multiple medal wins. Olympian Lovlina Borgohain and Ankushita Boro led the charge, securing gold in their respective categories. Shiva Thapa and Abhinav Saikia won silver, while Aikon Millie contributed a bronze to the state’s medal tally.
Lovlina dominated the women’s middleweight (75kg) division, using her experience and skill to defeat her Himachal Pradesh rival. In the women’s 66kg category, Ankushita Boro continued her strong form, defeating her Uttarakhand opponent to clinch the gold.
Shiva Thapa and Abhinav Saikia earned silver medals in their events, and Aikon Millie added a bronze.
The 39th National Games, which commenced on January 28, are set to conclude on February 14.
