Patrick Schwarzenegger opened up about his emotional reaction when he learned he had landed a role in The White Lotus season 3.

The White Lotus season 3 is almost here and fans are excited to see a new group of wealthy, troubled vacationers at a lavish resort. This time, the casting is even more special, as it features some big stars, including Patrick Schwarzenegger. Recently, the actor opened up about his emotional reaction when he learned he had landed a role in the upcoming season. Overwhelmed with joy, he couldn’t hold back tears and immediately shared the exciting news with his fiancee, Abby Champion. His family, who have been loyal fans of the show and had encouraged him to audition, were so thrilled that they too burst into tears when he told them.
“Every time we would watch the show, season 1 and season 2, every time Theo James would come up or in the first season, Jake Lacey, my mom was always like, ‘Why haven’t you auditioned for this? Why didn’t you go out for this?’ And my sister’s like, ‘You need to call your agents right now. This is ridiculous that you’re not in on the show, that you didn’t even audition’,” he told People.
When Patrick Schwarzenegger received the confirmation to audition, he was extremely happy but decided to keep it a secret. He didn’t want to get his hopes up because he felt there was a very small chance of being selected. The waiting period after the initial audition felt painfully long, but after months, he finally got a callback. This happened right after Christmas, but instead of enjoying the holidays, he couldn’t stop worrying. During a skiing trip with his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, he skipped the activity to focus on the audition and asked his family not to contact him.
Speaking about his “unique” audition experience, he said, “They don’t want to give anybody information. So you kind of just have to go off of the audition papers [and think], what are they looking for? What do you want to bring to this character? Honestly, it was just me taking a wild stab at what he was looking for. Then I did the chemistry read and then I got the message from creator Mike White that I got it, and I started crying and it was the greatest day in history for me.”
Once Patrick Schwarzenegger got the confirmation, he first told his fiancee, Abby Champion, just a week after their engagement. A week later, he had lunch with his family, and when he told them, his mom couldn’t hold back tears. Soon, his sister joined in and then Patrick himself started crying, followed by his fiancee.
The White Lotus season 3, also starring Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Lisa, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Tayme Thapthimthong and Aimee Lou Wood, is set to premiere on February 16.
