Assam’s Angshuman Kalita Selected As Scientist ‘C’ At ISRO

Angshuman Kalita, a resident of Dakuapara village in Boko, Assam, has been selected for the prestigious position of Scientist ‘C’ at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Kalita, the eldest son of Gokul Chandra Kalita and Aditi Kalita, will join the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram on February 14.

VSSC, a prominent ISRO center, is responsible for the development and design of launch vehicle technology and conducts cutting-edge research in areas such as aeronautics, propulsion, and space systems.

Kalita’s remarkable achievement was celebrated by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), South Kamrup, on February 5. He was also honored by the Asom Jatiya Mahila Parishad at his residence.

A 2021 graduate in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Silchar, Kalita cleared the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) examination and worked there for six months before securing an All India Rank of 40 in the ISRO recruitment exam.

In an inspiring message, Kalita shared that his success was the result of dedicated self-study, saying, “I never imagined working for organizations like BARC and ISRO, but I believed in my potential and focused on passing the exams through self-study.”
