A bomb threat, received by a hotel in the city on Sunday morning, has been ruled out as hoax following an extensive search in the premises by the police.
An e-mail message received by the manager of the hotel, located near Thampanoor, claimed that a suicide bomb attack would take place at 2.15 p.m. Soon, the City police dispatched its anti-sabotage and other squads to the premises and evacuated guests and staff from the hotel.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order 2) Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh said nothing suspicious was spotted during the search. The investigation is still under way. Efforts are on to trace the source of the mail, he added.
The Fort police have registered a case in connection with the incident. Notably, two other hotels received similar threats recently.
