Deva Box Office Collection Day 1: Deva, Shahid Kapoor’s much-anticipated action drama, had its theatrical release on January 31, marking a significant debut for director Rosshan Andrrews in the Hindi film industry. The movie, featuring Shahid as the titular cop, earned Rs 5 crore net on its opening day in India, according to Sacnilk.
While the opening day earnings of Rs 5 crore have garnered attention, they are relatively modest when compared to Shahid’s previous box office performances. His last film, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, earned Rs 6.7 crore on its opening day, while Jersey had a similar opening with Rs 3.2 crore. On the other hand, Kabir Singh had a phenomenal debut with Rs 20.21 crore on its opening Friday. Deva saw steady collections throughout the day, with morning shows registering 5.87%, afternoon shows 9.18%, and evening shows 9.77%.

Ahead of the film’s release, Shahid took to Instagram, sharing a heartfelt message about his dedication to the project. “One year of blood, sweat, and tears. 2024 was all DEVA!!! MERA DIL MERI JAAN. Deva revolves around the life of Dev, a womanizer and short-tempered cop seeking revenge for his slain friend. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he loses his memories. The film, despite its promising premise, received a mixed response. Hindustan Times described the film as having the potential for a “massy character, who is always on the edge, truly unpredictable,” but felt it fell short, presenting “a predictable story with an in-form Shahid.”
Despite the modest day-one collection, Shahid’s performance has been the highlight, with audiences eager to see how the film fares in the coming days.
