
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Tuesday (January 28, 2025) passed a resolution during its State committee meeting, urging the Centre to release the outstanding dues to Tamil Nadu to the tune of ₹1,635 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
According to a press release, the party also passed two other resolutions, urging the State government to ensure peace and harmony in Tamil Nadu and take steps to safeguard minorities’ right to worship, and hailing the efforts of workers in registering the Samsung India Workers Union (SIWU).
P. Shanmugam, CPI(M) State secretary, G. Ramakrishnan, CPI(M) Politburo member, and U. Vasuki, K. Balakrishnan, and other central committee members of the party, were present.
