Amid ongoing investigation into the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged people to “not create confusion” based on speculations.

While speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Fadnavis said that police are doing a proper probe and they have zeroed in on all possible leads into the case.

“I will ask all not to create confusion based on speculative things and things which are not told by police. Police are doing a proper investigation, they have almost everything,” said CM Fadnavis.

The Maharashtra CM added that he will ask the Mumbai CP to address a press conference soon to share all the details related to the case.

“I’ll ask Mumbai CP to address the media, maybe today or tomorrow, to convey the details of the case,” he added.

For the unversed, Khan was stabbed by an intruder at his Mumbai residence in the wee hours of January 16. It was reported that at around 2am, the actor heard noises when one of his female employees was attacked in his son Jeh’s room. This prompted Saif to intervene, which led to an altercation between the two and the attacker injured both Saif and the female employee. The Bollywood star was stabbed six times by the robber following which he was rushed to the hospital.

Following the incident, police stepped into action and arrested the alleged accused Shariful Islam (30).

Police further revealed that Islam changed his name to Vijay Das after entering India. He was arrested from the Labour Camp area of adjoining Thane city, three days after the violent attack.

“After he was nabbed by police, Fakir told police that his name was Vijay Das and he was a resident of Kolkata. He, however, failed to provide any document to support his claim. He disclosed his true name and Bangladeshi nationality during interrogation,” a police official told the news agency PTI.

“He called his brother and asked him to send his school living certificate. His brother sent it (the certificate) on Fakir’s mobile phone. This document is strong evidence to prove he is a Bangladeshi national,” the official added. The case is currently being probed.

On January 19, a Bandra court had sent him to police custody for five days till January 24.

Addressing a press conference on January 19, police said the accused had entered the Bollywood star’s home, in Satguru Sharan building in Bandra, in the early hours of January 16 with the intention of robbery.

Police revealed that that he had been working as housekeeping staff at Ricky’s bar in Thane and used the different names to avoid detection.
