When Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge was delivering his public address during the 76th Republic Day at the District Armed Reserved (DAR) Police Grounds in Kalaburagi on Sunday, police personnel, who were deployed for security, mishandled media representatives covering the event in front of the Minister.

Cameramen of different television channels had placed their microphones on the podium in front of Mr. Kharge when he was delivering his Republic Day address.

A senior police officer, along with his subordinates, suddenly emerged on the scene and began to clear the microphones bearing the logos of different news channels.

The cameramen’s instant resistance led to heated arguments between them and the police, disturbing the Minister’s speech for a while.

Mr. Kharge, when he addressed the media after the incident, regretted the incident and told the media representatives that he will instruct the police officers to make sure that such incidents do not happen in the future.

The Kalaburagi Police had created a similar problem when Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot recently visited Gulbarga University for convocation.
