Chittaranjan Tripathy, director of the National School of Drama (NSD), Delhi, has expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan, calling him a ‘natakwala’ first and then a superstar. The Do Patti actor highlighted SRK’s incredible journey as “an ordinary person from an ordinary family rose to extraordinary heights.”
Speaking to PTI, Chittaranjan Tripathy said, “Shah Rukh Khan has done a lot of theatre with Barry John. I consider him a theatre person. I consider him a natakwala first, he is a superstar later.”

Chittaranjan Tripathy, who himself is a renowned actor, shared that he feels happy that a theatre artist has become such a big superstar.
He added, “I believe that an ordinary person from an ordinary family reached extraordinary heights, I see myself in him. I am like, ‘wow’, this is me even though I am not that. It is his money, but because he is a theatre person, I feel like this is me.”
Meanwhile, Chittaranjan Tripathy is known for his performances in films like Delhi 6, Phantom, Shaandaar, Talvaar, Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan, Jagga Jasoos, Dasvi and Yodha.
Chittaranjan Tripathy garnered much appreciation for his role as Trivedi in the hit Netflix series Sacred Games. He was also a part of Shahid Kapoor’s thriller series Farzi.
Talking about Shah Rukh Khan, the actor is currently busy prepping for the action thriller film tentatively titled King. The film, reportedly being directed by Siddharth Anand, also features Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Munjya fame Abhay Verma. It was earlier supposed to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh.
The production of the film is expected to begin by the end of this month.
Recently, reports suggested that producer Dinesh Vijan approached SRK for the horror-comedy titled Chamunda. The film also stars Alia Bhatt. It is slated to be released in 2026.
