South Central Railway (SCR) has completed the electrification of new ₹15.49-crore, 18.56-km Akkanapet–Medak railway line. With this, only the recently constructed Manoharabad–Siddipet rail line remains to be electrified under the Hyderabad division.
An official release said the line connects Medak with Secunderabad–Nizamabad–Aurangabad and beyond towards Mumbai main line.
Earlier, DRM Lokesh Vishnoi and principal chief electrical engineer Brij Mohan Meena inaugurated a new tower car used for inspection, maintenance and repair of overhead equipment.
More trains
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has requested SCR to run more trains daily for the ongoing ‘Maha Kumbh’ in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and also augment the existing trains with extra coaches, given the heavy rush of pilgrims from both the Telugu states. A delegation led by spokesperson R. Shashidhar and others met general manager Arun Kumar Jain and presented a memorandum for the same on Thursday, said a press release.
