Muhammad Abdul Nasir, Manipur’s lone Janata Dal(United) MLA, said on Thursday (January 23, 2025) that he will continue to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in the State.

He affirmed his support a day after Kshetrimayum Biren Singh, the JD(U)‘s former State president, wrote to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla announcing the withdrawal of support to the government headed by Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh.

The JD(U)‘s central leadership sacked the State president hours after his “withdrawal” letter went viral.

Mr. Nasir met JD(U) working president Sanjay Jha and issued a video statement, dissociating himself from the content of the former State unit president’s letter.
