New Arunachal armed group’s members told to come overground

CPI(M) district secretary E.N. Suresh Babu was reelected for the second term at the party district conference that concluded at Chittur near here on Thursday.

Mr. Babu, 54, rose to the position after functioning in the student and youth wings of the CPI(M). He was SFI Chittur area president and DYFI block secretary. He was also CPI(M) Perumatti local secretary and Chittur area secretary. At present, he is CITU district vice-president and director of Malabar Cements.

Forty-four members, including Mr. Babu, were selected for the district committee of which eight were new entrants. Among them are K.S. Saleekha, P. Mammikutty, A. Prabhakaran, V. Chenthamarakshan, V.K. Chandran, S. Ajayakumar, T.M. Sasi, P.N. Mohanan, T.K. Narayanadas, Subaida Ishak, M. Hamza, S. Krishnadas, M.R. Murali, K. Nandakumar, U.T. Ramakrishnan, K.C. Riyazuddin, C.P. Babu, C.R. Rajeev, K. Krishnankutty, T.K. Noushad, Nitin Kanichery, K. Binumol, K. Preman, K. Santhakumari, K.D. Prasenan, C.K. Chamunni, and P.P. Sumod.

The new entrants are R. Jayadevan, N. Sarita, C.P. Pramod, N.B. Subhash, T.K. Achuthan, T. Kannan, Gopalakrishnan, and C. Bhavadas.

Five members were removed from the outgoing committee. They are T.N. Kandamuthan, A. Anitanandan, Girija Surendran, Vinayakumar, and V.K. Jayaprakash.
