In a major development for the residents of Kodi Shettypura and Siddapura Dhakle villages in Srirangapatna taluk in Mandya district, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has approved the construction of bus shelters under “Additional Road Safety Works” on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway Section of NH-275.

The approval comes after a formal request from the Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy who is the MP for Mandya Lok Sabha constituency.

The exchange of letters between the two Union Ministers highlights Mr. Kumaraswamy’s resolve to address the needs of rural areas in Mandya. In his letter dated September 19, 2024, Mr. Kumaraswamy emphasised the necessity of bus shelters for the villages citing the significant benefits they would provide to the local community. Responding positively, Mr. Gadkari, in a letter dated December 30, 2024, confirmed the approval and stated that bids for the construction had already been invited.

While expressing gratitude to Mr. Gadkari for his swift action, Mr. Kumaraswamy said, “The construction of bus shelters in Kodi Shettypura and Siddapura Dhakle is a crucial step in improving rural infrastructure and enhancing safety and convenience for the villagers. I thank Mr. Nitin Gadkari Ji for recognizing the importance of this request and ensuring its approval promptly.”

The collaboration between the two Union Ministers underscores the commitment of the Union government to prioritise rural infrastructure under its development agenda, a statement from Mr. Kumaraswamy noted.

The bus shelters in Srirangapatna taluk are set to provide better amenities for local commuters, further strengthening the focus on public welfare in Karnataka, it stated.
