GUWAHATI: The Xathradhikars of the state wished for a peaceful and developed Assam with better coordination among different castes, creeds, and faiths in 2025.
Three Xartradhikars of as many xatras of the state expressed their New Year wishes in their interactions with The Sentinel today.
Xatradhikar Dr. Pitambar Dev Goswami of Sri Sri Auniati Satra (Majuli): We wish peace among the people of the state. Peace doesn’t come on its own. We all need to create a peaceful atmosphere in the state for peace to prevail. We all need to keep the doors of humanity and honesty open to let peace come to the state. Only that will bring prosperity to the public. The government has done a lot of development work for Majuli. I thank the government for all these works. The government has the goodwill of connecting Majuli with the rest of the state through two bridges. Our request to the government is that the works on the bridges should not come to a halt. The people of Majuli need to cooperate with the government in its development endeavour.
Xatradhikar Nityananda Dev Goswami of Sri Sri Naruwa Kuji Satra in the Morigaon district: We’re going to step into the new year with a whole lot of hopes and aspirations. We want an Assam that dazzles with peace, cooperation, and fraternity. Let unity prevail in the state in 2025 amid its diversity. The government in the state is trying its best to deliver governance with the mindset of services. We hope this mindset will get a boost in 2025. Of late, a question mark keeps staring at women’s safety in the state. I hope the government will prioritise this front in 2025. I pray to God to make Assam free from violence, killings, and abductions.
Xatradhikar Jitendranath Pradhani of Sri Sri Ramraikuthi Xatra in the Dhubri district and AXM president: I pray to God to take Assam to the path of peace and development in 2025. The year 2024 saw a lot of wars between countries. We hope world peace will prevail over war in 2025. The state government has done much for the development of xatras. However, the situation demands more development work. The government has freed the lands of some xatras from encroachers. However, there are still many xatra lands under encroachers. The government should prioritise it and free Xatra lands from encroachers.
